Can Any Tea Help with Weight Loss? posted by Stanley Mburu on June 18 2021

The Truth About Weight Loss Tea

Have you seen the adverts popping up on Instagram about weight loss tea? From time to time, we see the kind of adverts that promise the world – and lots of weight loss super-fast – that make us cringe. And worry.

Lots of brands out there sell ‘weight loss teas’ promising to make you drop drastic weight, and fast. While we all know that real and healthy weight loss that lasts comes from lifestyle, diet and exercise, we understand how these believable ads can catch peoples’ attention.

Our opinion? Be very wary of any tea company that is claiming drinking the tea will make you drop weight. It’s not really how weight management works. In fact, many of these brands’ teas contain laxative-style effective ingredients, which can make the scales say a smaller number quickly - but it’s not the long-lasting weight loss that you want.

Is Any Tea Effective for Weight Loss?

While we’ll never claim that a tea makes you lose weight fast, we do believe there are certain teas and ingredients that can help with weight management for several different reasons.

Here, we’re talking about the types of teas and ingredients that can work alongside a healthy lifestyle and diet to do things like boost metabolism. This then works hand in hand if you’re working towards lowering your weight.

Green Tea

In general, green tea is known to be the best tea option if you’re working on weight management. It is packed with antioxidants called catechins which are known to boost metabolism. Therefore, green is often linked with weight loss.

Drink your green tea first thing in the morning to kick start your metabolism for the day instead of your usual tea or coffee.

Hibiscus Tea

Another tea that is hot in the news for being linked to weight management is hibiscus tea. Hibiscus tea contains a whole host of antioxidants properties and has been linked with helping to reduce body fat when paired with a healthy diet and exercise routine.

Our Silhouette Tea contains hibiscus and focuses on ingredients that help to reduce bloating. It also contains cherry and mint, giving it a bright and refreshing flavour, perfect for after meals.

Mint Tea

Mint tea is known to soothe the digestive system and so, therefore, is another tea recommended for weight management. Mint tea is said to reduce stress, which can affect your metabolism as well as stimulating the digestive enzymes to get your digestive system working smoothly. This means you can take on nutrients more efficiently and your metabolism simply works better.

Lemon Tea

Lastly, try a lemon tea. Consuming lemons is known to help aid with weight management because it flushes toxins from the body as well as boosting the metabolism. Drink yours first thing in the morning and on an empty stomach for the best results. Lemon tea also supports hydration, making you less likely to reach for snacks!

Basically – there’s no magic formula when it comes to weight loss. Healthy choices paired with good diet and exercise – including some great health teas! – is the best possible way to lose weight and keep it off, becoming more healthy overall.
